Baez Calls Out The Media

Jose Baez turns media critic in his book, “Presumed Guilty,” about the Casey Anthony case.
Early in the book, he blasts WFTV-Channel 9 as “the worst tabloid channel” and “a channel so inflammatory it was just a notch below ‘Nancy Grace.’ ”
Of course, Baez is no Grace fan after appearing on her show. When Grace accused Baez of hiding behind attorney-client privilege on the show, Baez says he asked himself, “Who is this quack?”
He compares Grace’s show to professional wrestling, “where the action and drama are more important than truth or facts.”
Baez rips WKMG-Channel 6’s Tony Pipitone for being presumptuous in suggesting that Baez worked on an insanity defense for Anthony.
Baez blasts Michelle Meredith of WESH-Channel 2 for asking “a ridiculous and inflammatory question.”
Baez does like Geraldo Rivera and says they have “a true friendship.” Baez starts his media tour for “Presumed Guilty” on Thursday, the first anniversary of Anthony’s acquittal of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Baez will appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” ABC paid Anthony and Baez $200,000 to license photos of Caylee.
On that point, Baez writes, “In exchange for giving photos of Caylee and her to a national news organization, Casey was paid $200,000, most of which was used to mount her defense. Of course, when the media found out, she was…criticized for it — unfairly if you ask me.”
…But Baez stresses that any person facing a serious criminal charge will sell whatever he or she owns to mount a defense. “It’s a darn good thing Casey was able to do this,” Baez writes. “Without that money, we wouldn’t have been able to do a lot of the things we needed to do to fight her case.”
Which local channel is Baez talking to? Central Florida News 13 in reports by Adam Longo that start at 5 a.m. Thursday. The channel says that Baez will discuss what he didn’t put in the book. “It’s information you won’t see anywhere else,” anchor Jackie Brockington said.
